AI for Medical Insights: Making the Lead from Vision to Reality

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine-Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) are just some of the terms that have become part of vision for Medical Insights teams; the problem is that the reality is more “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” with teams finding some amazing wins and also facing unexpected and serious challenges in implementation.
The need for fast, reliable, and sustainable Medical Insights is unquestioned. And with the incredible growth in data, Medical Affairs organizations are scrambling to catch up. While some organizations have invested heavily in making analytics a reality, many continue to even find dedicated resources; we still hear tales of MSLs taking on side dashboard projects done on nights and weekends, one data scientist hired to support medical teams with hundreds of people, and Medical Directors combing through studies manually to identify data gaps.

We are at a turning point – AI/ML/NLP/Advanced Data Science is here to stay for Medical Insights – from MSLs, Med Info, Ad boards, market research, evidence gaps, all of it. Let’s learn what has worked, what hasn’t, and share the whys behind these. As an industry we need to advance our capabilities and to do that well we need to know what works, what doesn’t and how to move forward. The main objective is for audience to have 2 or 3 takeaways that they can implement immediately.
