The remit for Medical Affairs is extensive, with a key objective of gathering actionable insights into clinician behavior to identify practice patterns—and the rationales behind physician choices. A recent McKinsey & Company report observed that Medical Affairs is emerging as “the third strategic pillar of the organization alongside R&D and Commercial” owing to its stewardship of scientific knowledge and data across the product lifecycle—along with the generation of insights to inform the activities of the R&D, Commercial & Market Access groups. Today, Medical Affairs must capture and interpret a rapidly increasing volume and variety of data, not only to produce valuable insights for internal and external stakeholders, but to maximize and measure the impact of its own activities and investments. In a presentation and interview format, speakers will review use cases and discuss the challenges and opportunities in uncovering and utilizing real world data to advance Medical Affairs activities and effectively measure the impact of those activities.
